Otterbeck unveils barrel-aged Captain Sir Tom’s Gin

English producer Otterbeck Distillery has debuted a cask-matured version of its Captain Sir Tom’s Gin.

The new Captain Sir Tom’s Limited Edition Barrel Aged Gin celebrates the life of Thomas Moore, a former British army officer who became known for his charity fundraising during the pandemic.

He died in February at the age of 100.

Otterbeck Distillery co-owner Dougie Lampkin met Moore while making the ITV film A Day in the Life of Captain Tom, and honoured him with the launch of Captain Sir Tom’s Gin last autumn.

To craft its newest release, Otterbeck aged the original Captain Sir Tom expression – with botanicals including rosemary, sage and thyme – in an ex-Bourbon cask for one month.

Just 100 bottles have been produced.

Sitting at 50% ABV, the barrel-aged gin is available to purchase at otterbeckdistillery.co.uk for £100 (US$140) per 500ml.

All profits from the bottling’s sales will be donated to the Captain Sir Tom Foundation.
