Michter’s drops two limited-release rye bottlings
Kentucky-based distiller Michter’s has debuted two new rye whiskeys.
The latest edition of Michter’s 10 Year Rye will roll out in the US next month, while its US*1 Barrel Strength Rye will make its way to the UK later this year.
Both expressions are single-barrel limited releases crafted by the producer’s master distiller, Dan McKee, and its master of maturation, Andrea Wilson.
The 10-year-old rye comes in at 46.4% ABV, and boasts notes of vanilla, toffee, toasted almonds and a touch of citrus.
“We wish we had more 10 Year Rye whiskey to share with Michter‘s fans,” said Wilson. “Unfortunately, we continue to struggle to meet demand on all of our whiskeys as these expressions require time and attention to detail to reach the peak quality level for which Michter‘s is known.
“Despite the limited stocks, we believe Michter‘s drinkers will be thrilled with the results of this year’s efforts.”
The decade-old expression is priced at US$170 per 750ml.
Meanwhile, the newest bottling of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye will make its way to the UK through drinks agency Speciality Brands.
It will be the first time the whiskey has been distributed outside of Kentucky since 2019.
Bottled at a median ABV of 55.1%, the rye offers flavours of butterscotch, cinnamon, cherries, toasted vanilla, caramel and a spiced finish.
“I was really happy when we tasted these barrels,” McKee commented.”This release has so much of what I look for in a rye.”
The 2021 barrel-strength bottling will be sold at specialist retailers across the UK for RRP £96 (US$134).
