BBS, Maker’s Mark Bourbon and video platform Spirits Network have launched Barrel Select, a programme filmed at the Maker’s Mark distillery in Kentucky. The programme shows the process behind the creation of the second custom barrel from the distillery.

Barrel Select launched on Spirits Network on 20 May, and the trailer is available to watch on the network’s Youtube channel.

The show is hosted by BBS founder Samara Davis, and her husband Armond Davis, partner of BBS.

The two are shown to taste their way through the Maker’s Mark Private Collection stave portfolio to create a new whisky.

The whisky features a selection of oak staves, including one Baked American Pure 2 stave, two seared French cuvée staves, two Maker’s Mark 46 staves and two toasted French spice staves.

Also including three roasted French mendiant staves, the latest bottling provides notes of milk chocolate, buttery nut and smooth coffee.

The product additionally celebrates Diversity Distilled, an non-profit organisation founded by Samara and Armond, advocating diversity, inclusion and equity of brands with a focus on distilled spirits and the alcohol and service industries.

BBS’s Maker’s Mark Private Selection: Recipe 2 will be available for an RRP of US$69.99 per 750ml bottle towards the end of May, specifically in Louisville, Kentucky; Chicago, Illinois, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; and Tampa, Florida.

It will also be available in select markets for online purchase via Spirits Network, and in California, North Carolina and Washington DC this autumn.

Maker’s Mark owner Beam Suntory recently invested more than US$1 billion in green and social issues as part of its long-term Proof Positive initiative.
