Grace O’Malley Blended Irish Whiskey is a blend of triple and double-distilled malt and grain whiskeys. The blend features whiskies aged between three and 10 years old, which have been matured in different barrels including French oak, American oak, Bourbon and rum casks.

The casks were selected by master blender Paul Caris, a former winemaker and Bordeaux native.

On the nose, the whiskey has notes of caramel, Bourbon vanilla, malty notes, dry almond, orange peel and honey, while the palate offers round tannins and fruit overtones.

All of the company’s spirits are distilled at the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, County Lough. The brand is named after 16th century Irish pirate queen Grace O’Malley.

Stephen Cope, founder and managing director of Grace O’Malley Spirits, said: “We are very excited to share the story of Grace O’Malley with the UK market through our premium whiskeys. Far from ordinary like the whiskey itself, Grace O’Malley was a fearless seafarer who broke with the conventions of her time.”

The expression is recommended served neat or over ice. It can also be consumed in cocktails such as an Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour or Highball.

Grace O’Malley Blended Irish Whiskey is priced at RRP £36.99 (US$52). The firm’s spirits are available in Europe and distributed in the UK by Proof Drinks.
