Women of the Vine & Spirits aids struggling bartenders
Membership organisation Women of the Vine & Spirits has launched a programme offering health, financial and legal aid to US hospitality workers amid the pandemic.
Created through the organisation’s charitable arm, the Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, the programme will offer support to restaurant and hospitality workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Deborah Brenner, founder and CEO of Women of the Vine & Spirits, said: “Restaurant and hospitality workers have been one of the hardest hit professionals due to the pandemic. So many of our colleagues are experiencing increased stress, anxiety, worries and fears.
“Giving people a direct connection to counselling, professional, financial, legal advisors and valuable resources for all of life’s issues is a critical step toward healing those on the front lines and supporting the recovery of our industry.”
The programme will support industry professionals that have been laid off, furloughed or are working reduced hours.
Through a 24/7 toll-free number, those enrolled on the programme can access confidential assistance with clinicians, financial professionals and attorneys.
To qualify for the programme, applicants must have been employed in the restaurant or hospitality industry for a minimum of three years or be currently unemployed, furloughed, or working fewer hours, having previously worked for a minimum of three years.
To launch the initiative, the Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation received a donation from Love, Tito’s, the philanthropic arm of Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
Lisa Huddleson, director of strategic philanthropy at Tito’s Handmade Vodka, said: “The pandemic’s impact continues to cause immense stress to those in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
