Howlerwood

Australian bar and music venue Howler has opened a Wes Anderson-inspired pop-up in Melbourne, called Howlerwood.

Serving up sunsets, food trucks and nostalgic cocktails, Howlerwood will be open from Wednesday to Sunday throughout Australia’s summer months.

Guests at the summer pop-up will be able to sample a creative cocktail menu served up alongside pizzas provided by vegan pizzeria Red Sparrow.

Pier 17 The Greens

For New Yorkers looking for a safe space to drink and dine, Pier 17 has launched its physcially-distanced outdoor concept, The Greens.

Now open at The Rooftop at Pier 17, The Greens features heated rooftop cabins, where groups of two to 10 drinkers can enjoy a menu of festive serves developed by the team at New York bar Dante.

Drinks on offer include the Hot Buttered Rum, which combines spiced butter Santa Teresa, allspice dram, amontillado Sherry, raspberry syrup, rooibos tea and star anise, and the Mulled Cider, made with Lelouvier Calvados, Eve’s Cidery Ice Cider, oloroso Sherry, milk, apple juice, lemon juice, spiced cider reduction and cinnamon.

Fever-tree Mix at Six

Tonic water and mixer maker Fever-Tree has launched a new social media series to share drinks inspiration with cocktail fans around the world.

The Fever-Tree Mix at Six series will be hosted by the brand’s resident drinks expert every night on Instagram, offering drinkers a ‘daily dose of drinks inspiration’.

Running on @fevertreemixers on Instagram, the series will include non-alcoholic options and will make use of ingredients viewers will have around the house.

Bar 83

Bar 83 in Sydney Tower has reopened following extensive refurbishment, boasting ‘striking décor, with subtle hints of retro nostalgia’.

The sky-high drinking den can be found 83 floors above the city’s central business district, and offers floor to ceiling windows with a 260-degree view of Sydney’s cityscape.

While drinkers soak in the views at Bar 83, they can enjoy a cocktail list that ‘champions Australia’s seasonal produce’. Serves on offer include the Second Wind, which combines Bourbon, cassis, coffee amaro and bitter orange, and the Pain Pleasure Principle, which is made with Cognac, cacao, lemon balm and lemon myrtle.

TT Liquor workshop

London bar and spirits store TT Liquor has partnered with alcohol-free ‘spirit’ brand Seedlip to create a Dry January cocktail kit.

The non-alcoholic Dry January cocktail box contains Seedlip alcohol-free ‘spirits’, a stainless steel cocktail kit, fresh ingredients, recipes and other useful guidance. Alongside the home-delivered cocktail kit, the venue will also host alcohol-free cocktail-making masterclasses, kicking off tonight (8 January).

Hot Toddy Day

Highland Scotch whisky maker Aberfeldy is encouraging drinkers to celebrate Hot Toddy Day on Monday (11 January).

In order to help whisky fans mark the occasion, the Scotch whisky brand has created the Golden Hot Toddy and is encouraging drinkers to mix one up on Monday.

The Golden Hot Toddy is made using Aberfeldy 12 Years Old, honey, lemon juice, hot water and garnished with a cinnamon stick.

QT Secret Garden

Luxury hotel QT Melbourne has partnered with Four Pillars Gin to open a secret garden pop-up at it’s rooftop bar.

Accessible via a secluded doorway, the Secret Garden Bar is said to provide a ‘lush, leafy haven’ in which drinkers can sample a bespoke menu of Four Pillars cocktails. Guests can also curate their own gin-based infusion by selecting a herb of their choice from the Secret Garden Bar.

Open to just 40 guests at a time, the Secret Garden Bar is open from Thursday to Saturday each week.

Bartender Boxing 12 Rounds

Fitness series Bartender Boxing has launched a collection of online workouts and classes, which feature three-time world champion Fernando Vargas.

Through the Bartender Boxing 12 Rounds video series, bartenders will be encouraged to maintain their workout routine and support their mental wellbeing. The series of 12 videos is available for free on the Stick and Move website.

Each presented by a host of professional fighters, the series aims to keep the world’s bartenders active and learning from home while improving various boxing skills.

Eastwind Hotel Slow & Low

The Eastwind Hotel and Bar in New York has partnered with bottled cocktail maker Hochstadter’s Slow and Low to create a pop-up experience for its guests.

Running from now until 31 January, guests who note ‘Slow & Low’ in their reservation at the hotel will receive a branded tote bag containing ready-to-drink cocktails and other branded items to enjoy during their stay.

The offering is available in any room type at no extra charge and can be booked now for stays between 1 January and 31 January 2021.
