Marco Corallo steps down as Artesian head bartender

Artesian head bartender Marco Corallo is stepping down from the position after a year in the role.

Marco Corallo was appointed head bartender at Artesian at The Langham hotel in November 2019

Corallo joined the team at Artesian in November 2019, following the departure of former head bartender Remy Savage.

During his tenure at the bar, Corallo said he hoped to “bring creativity and Italian hospitality” to the London venue and developed Artesian’s latest Disco Menu, which was inspired by the Disco era when drinks were “fun, brightly coloured and reflective of the time”.

Corallo announced his departure from Artesian on Instagram. In his post, Corallo said: “2020 is a year that is going to be remembered, a pivotal year for hospitality as well as us all on a personal level.

“The last 12 months has given me a different perception of life and how important it is to do what moves you and makes you happy, even if the decisions that you make are the right ones, they’re sometimes the hardest ones to make.

“As a result of the last year, I have made the decision to leave my position as head bartender at the amazing Artesian Bar and move on to a new adventure and challenge. I will never forget the laughs, the lessons, the passion, the love, the drinks, my family. This was the best experience I had in my career so far and I will leave London far fuller of emotions than when I arrived.

“I want to thank you firstly Anna Sebastian, my work partner, guide and mentor! You gave me my dream job and a new family.”

In a statement, The Langham hotel said that following his departure Corallo will travel to Dubai to pursue new projects “with the full support of all those who worked with him”.

The Langham hotel said: “This week, Marco Corallo announced via his personal Instagram his departure from one of the World’s 50 Best Bars, Artesian. Joining the team at five-star luxury hotel, The Langham, London in October 2019, no one could predict what the preceding months would bring.

“Corallo supported the team in retaining their spot within the 2020 World’s 50 Best Bars list, led the creation of an iconic menu for the reopening of Artesian after months of hibernation that featured a list of reimagined, glamorous and slick cocktails from the Disco era inspiring joy, hedonism and celebration, whilst becoming a firm fixture of the Artesian family.

“Ultimately, together as a team, Corallo, Artesian and The Langham, London, have weathered through one of the hardest years the global hospitality industry has had to face. Corallo’s departure will lead him back to Dubai to pursue new projects with the full support of all those who worked with him.

“Award-winning bar manager, Anna Sebastian continues to guide and lead the Artesian team, whilst The Langham, London plans to reveal the next chapter of Artesian in 2021.”
