Halloween at The Ivy

To mark the spookiest time of the year, The Ivy Soho Brasserie has created a menu of Halloween-inspired cocktails.

Available today (30 October) and tomorrow (31 October), the London venue will serve up drinks including The Secret Potion, which combines Silent Pool Rare Citrus Gin, elderflower cordial, lemon juice, grapefruit bitters and Champagne, and the Midnight Margarita, made with Cazcabel Reposado Tequila, Briottet Crème d’Abricot, lime juice and orange bitters.

Alongside the sinister serves, the brasserie is also offering a Halloween-inspired dessert, The Pumpkin Patch.

Halloween at Coya

Tomorrow (31 October), London venue Coya Mayfair will kick off its Halloween celebrations with a themed brunch.

Commencing at 12pm GMT, guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion as they participate in a four-hour “hauntingly spectacular” brunch offering. During the afternoon, drinkers and diners will be treated to Halloween-themed performers, tricks and treats from an illusionist and Coya’s resident DJ.

During the brunch, guests will be able to sample a variety of dishes, alongside the Cardinal Sins cocktail, which comprises black pepper and turmeric Tequila, citrus, agave, ginger ale, herbs, clarified coconut milk and yukary juice.

Jack the Ripper walking tour

London cocktail bar Discount Suit Company is also marking Halloween, and has partnered with London’s Jack the Ripper Tour to offer a spine-tingling exploration of London’s East End.

Kicking off tomorrow (31 October), the tour begins outside Discount Suit Company with a warming glass of hot punch. Guests will then set off on the walking tour, uncovering the mystery of English murderer Jack the Ripper.

At the end of the tour, attendees will return to Discount Suit Company to sample the bar’s eclectic cocktail menu.

Rock + Rye masterclass

American whiskey brand Oak & Eden has partnered with footwear store Boot Barn to launch an online cocktail-making series.

The Rock & Rye video series is available to view on the Oak & Eden website and launched with a video demonstrating how to create the Railstation cocktail. Made using Oak & Eden Wheat & Spire whiskey, the cocktail also calls for coffee liqueur, simple syrup and Peychaud’s Bitters.

Future videos in the series will be available to view online every other week.

Natural Philosopher industry night

London’s Natural Philosopher will start its month-long series of industry nights on Sunday (1 November).

Running throughout November, the weekly night has launched to establish a “sense of industry camaraderie” during these challenging times for the on-trade and will welcome hospitality professionals with music, drinks and discounted Buffalo Trace Bourbon classics, as well as a complimentary Pickleback on arrival.

The events will run from 4pm to 10pm each Sunday throughout November and physical distancing and safety precautions will be adhered to.

Glengoyne online tastings

Highland single malt brand Glengoyne has relaunched its series of virtual whisky tastings, with the next event set to take place on Tuesday (3 November).

The Glengoyne Three Dram Tasting Experience offers whisky fans the chance to sample three Highland single malt whiskies in a virtual tasting room, which overlooks the scenery surrounding the Glengoyne distillery.

Hosted by a distillery ambassador, the session features an exploration of the production of Glengoyne, as well as three samples of Glengoyne whisky. To book, head to the Glengoyne website.

Virtual Mixology Events

Bartending events company Mixology Events has launched a series of online cocktail-making masterclasses in partnership with London bar TT Liquor.

Participants in the online sessions will be sent a box including everything required for the masterclass, such as spirits, a cocktail kit, fresh ingredients and recipe cards. The workshops will then be hosted via Zoom and are priced from £60 (US$78) per person.

Shrub & Shutter new menu

Spiced rum brand Dead Man’s Fingers has created a menu of cocktails inspired by the seven deadly sins, which will be served up at London’s Shrub & Shutter.

The menu features cocktails influenced by the seven deadly sins, including Wratch, Envy, Lust and Sloth.

Cocktail on offer at Shrub & Shutter include Pride, made with Dead Man’s Fingers Coconut Rum, Dead Man’s Fingers Lime Rum, pineapple, lime and butterfly pea, and Gluttony (pictured), which combines Dead Man’s Fingers Hazelnut Rum, half and half, Mr Blacks Coffee liqueur, chocolate and nutmeg.

Lucas Bols bartending masterclass

Dutch spirits maker Lucas Bols has launched an online bartending academy offering an insight into the skills required across the industry.

The Bols Online Bartending Academy has been created to “inspire and train” bartenders around the world through online workshops covering different aspects of bartending.

The online service is available to try for free and access to the complete training programme costs €35 (US$41).
