Lobby Bar new menu
The Lobby Bar at The London Edition Hotel has introduced a new menu featuring favourites from sister venue the Punch Room.
As the Punch Room at the London hotel is yet to reopen, the Lobby Bar will now offer a “secret menu” of cocktails, including the Milk Punch, made with silver tip jasmine tea, Portobello Road gin, Benedictine, oak moss syrup, lemon juice and orange flower water. Drinkers can also sample the Spread Eagle Punch, made with Chivas 12, Woodford Rye, lemon sherbet, demerara syrup, lemon juice and pilsner.
The Lobby Bar is open every week from Thursday to Saturday until 10pm.
At its next experimental Sunday Lyan session, London bar Lyaness will welcome former director of bars at The Savoy hotel Declan McGurk.
Running from 5pm to 10pm on Sunday (25 October), the event will see McGurk and the Lyaness team mix up a menu of limited edition cocktails for drinkers in the capital.
The Southbank bar is currently operating at a reduced capacity and in line with new health and safety regulations. As such, reservations for the event are necessary through the Lyaness website.
Internation G&T Day at In Situ
Sydney bar In Situ is continuing its International G&T Day (19 October) celebrations for the next two weeks.
The Australian bar has partnered with The Botanist’s team of mixologists to create two bespoke cocktails and three gin and tonic serves. Cocktails on offer include the Donna Summer, described as “a fruity twist on the classic G&T” and The Lennon, which is said to be “beautifully sweet and fragrant”.
The signature Botanist serves will be available at In Situ until 2 November.
Oblix at The Shard reopens
Sky-high London bar and restaurant Oblix at The Shard has reopened, serving dishes and drinks for household celebrations.
Split across two spaces, Oblix West and Oblix East, the venue incorporates a “contemporary yet relaxed restaurant” and a bar and lounge designed for a “creative, cosmopolitan crowd”.
Now serving a menu of imaginative cocktails and elevated bar snacks, Oblix at The Shard is observing all tier two coronavirus restrictions, including ensuring that all bookings are from one household or support bubble.
Three Little Words delivers
Manchester cocktail bar and restaurant Three Little Words has launched a click-and-collect service for its roast dinners and pre-made cocktails.
Available every week, imbibers in Manchester are able to order Roast at Home boxes from the venue, which feature roast potatoes, seasonal veg, gravy and big fluffy Yorkshire puddings. Shoppers can also add pre-made cocktails to enjoy with their dinners, including Negronis, Bloody Marys, Old Fashioneds or Espresso Martinis.
Orders for the click-and-collect service can be placed through the Three Little Words website.
Halloween at Brasserie of Light
From Monday (26 October), London’s Brasserie of Light will kick off its Halloween celebrations, in partnership with The Cinema at Selfridges.
The bar and restaurant will offer Londoners an exclusive dining and cinema experience, with a chance to watch classic horror movies such as The Thing, An American Werewolf and The Exorcist, as well as Get Out and The Conjuring.
For £55 (US$72) per person, consumers will be able to book a three-course dinner, cocktail and cinema-going experience at the London venue. Drinks on offer at Brasserie of Light include limited edition serve The Pennywise, made with spiced pumpkin syrup, mandarin purée, lemon juice, balla spices, bitters and a candy floss garnish.
Kraken Screamfest 4
On Wednesday (28 October), spiced rum brand Kraken will kick off its Halloween celebrations with the release of a new video game featuring Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon.
Created by games director John Zurhellen, Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge will see players issue commands to Rheon and watch him respond immediately through a live video link.
To play Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge, users will need to bag a ticket from Kraken’s online hub, The League of Darkness. Rheon and the game will be ‘playable’ from 4pm to 6pm on 28 October through to Friday 30 October.
Waitrose Cocktail Kits
For drinkers looking to up their at-home cocktail-making game, UK supermarket chain Waitrose has partnered with the House of Suntory to create its Cocktails at Home Experience Boxes.
The boxes include all the key ingredients and kit needed to make either gin cocktails with a bottle of Roku gin, or whisky cocktails with Toki whisky. The kit also comes with two John Lewis Highball glasses, cocktail spoon, jigger and a booklet containing two cocktail recipes and a range of garnishes.
Each box also includes an invitation to an online masterclass with a Waitrose drinks specialist.
Halloween at Crazy Pizza
London restaurant Crazy Pizza has created a limited edition menu of Halloween cocktails to serve up at the scariest time of the year.
Crazy Pizza has launched the Spicy Witch, which is made with Tanqueray Gin, spicy red chilli syrup and lime juice, as well as the Wizard’s Sour, which combines Maker’s Mark, Bourbon, lemon juice, matcha syrup, cardamom bitters and a dried pumpkin garnish.
The spooky cocktail creations are available at the Marylebone drinking den from 30 October to 1 November.
