Moët & Chandon Cocktail Hour

As part of London Cocktail Week, Champagne house Moët & Chandon will offer consumers complimentary Champagne cocktails every Thursday throughout October.

Drinkers in the capital can get the free Champagne cocktails from bars including City Social, Disrepute and Coupette. The brand has also crafted Champagne cocktails to serve in venues across London, which will be available for £9 (US$11) with a festival wristband.

Moët Hennessy UK is one of the sponsors of this year’s London Cocktail Week, which has been extended for the whole month of October to help support the on-trade.

Factory Floor

The team behind Sheffield street food market Pedlar have opened their first permanent venue, Factory Floor.

Open in Neepsend in the Yorkshire city, Factory Floor offers drinks crafted with drip-infused spirits, as well as zero-waste sodas and fresh tank beer.

The new venue will be open from 4pm to 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 12pm until 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Knappogue Castle Women in Whiskey

Irish whiskey brand Knappogue Castle has launched a new online series to celebrate women in the bar industry.

The Knappogue Castle Women in Whiskey series will highlight America’s bartending talent, including Devon Tarby, Eryn Reece, Ezra Star, Meaghan Dorman, Lucinda Sterling and Mariena Mercer. Each participating bartender will create an original Irish whiskey cocktail, which Knappogue Castle will share on social media for drinkers to recreate at home.

First up is the Black Is Gold, created by Denaya Jones (pictured), owner and lead mixologist at Deestilled in Washington DC. To find the recipe, follow @knappoguewhiskey on Instagram.

Sugarlandia at Romulo Café

Philippine rum brand Don Papa has taken over London’s Romulo Café & Restaurant to host the Sugarlandia dining experience.

Running at Romulo from 9 October until 15 November, the three-course Sugarlandia Menu features dishes including pork belly followed by Don Papa Rum glazed pineapple, each paired with Don Papa cocktails.

Drinks on offer include the Sunshine in Sugarlandia, made with Don Papa Rum, lemongrass, calamansi, ginger and honey, and the Buko Pandan, which combines Don Papa with pandan, coconut, chocolate and sea salt.

6 O’clock pop-up

Bristol-based 6 O’clock Gin has opened a pop-up retail space in its hometown, offering masterclasses, personalised bottles and gifting opportunities.

Open in the centre of Bristol, the 6 O’clock Gin pop-up will host Make Your Own Sloe Gin sessions, where guests can create their own concoctions using hand-picked wild hedgerow sloe berries.

Also, to celebrate the brand’s 10-year anniversary, 6 O’clock Gin will be giving away free G&T cans every day throughout October from the shop. To claim, visitors must show the brand’s latest social media post to one of the team in-store.

100 Wardour Street Six at Six

Soho drinking den 100 Wardour Street has launched a menu of £6 (US$7) classic cocktails to celebrate London Cocktail Week.

From 3pm until 9.30pm every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 100 Wardour Street will be serving six classic cocktails, including the Pornstar Martini, Espresso Martini, Old Fashioned, Whisky Sour, Daiquiri and a Paloma.

The six serves will be available throughout October to mark London Cocktail Week.

Remy Savage and Paul Lougrat at Coupette

On Sunday (11 October), bartenders Remy Savage and Paul Lougrat will take over London’s Coupette to showcase drinks from their upcoming new venue.

Set to open the doors to their new bar soon, Savage and Lougrat will serve up drinks from the venue as part of London Cocktail Week.

Running from 5pm until 10pm, the takeover is the latest instalment of Coupette’s Sunday Development Industry sessions.

BCB heads online

From Monday (12 October), Bar Convent Berlin (BCB), BCB Brooklyn and BCB São Paulo will kick off a series of online educational workshops for the global drinks industry.

BCB Berlin will stream online seminars covering topics such as mental health, conscious drinking and a deep dive into the modern African bar scene. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn trade show will host a session with Jackie Summers entitled Build Your Own Table, which tackles unequal opportunities for advancement.

Finally, the BCB São Paulo programme aims to give attendees an insight into the world of Brazilian spirits.

Whisky of the Year tasting

The Whisky Exchange has launched an online vote to find the 2020 Whisky of the Year.

Whisky fans are now able to purchase a tasting set of the six finalists in the 2020 competition, and will be able to cast their votes online between 9 October and 27 December.

Now in its second year, the competition features six shortlisted whiskies that were nominated by global customers of The Whisky Exchange, and three by co-founder of The Whisky Exchange, Sukhinder Singh, and head buyer, Dawn Davies MW.
