Vinexpo NY to host first webinar on US market

Trade show Vinexpo New York will host its first webinar tomorrow as part of a new online series to help brands launch in the US.

Vinexpo New York 2021 will take place from 3-4 February

The new five-part webinar series, called Growing Brands in the US Market, has been created by Vinexpo New York and Sonoma State University. The education series aims to help companies navigate and better understand the complexities of working in the US.

The first webinar, ‘Route to Market: Options & Opportunities for 2021 & Beyond’, will be held tomorrow (15 October) at 12pm EDT.

The webinar will assess the current market situation to help brands plan for 2021. It will also look at product categories, styles and price points that importers, retailers, and private label companies are looking for based on consumer purchase patterns.

In addition, the seminar will look at how e-commerce and alternative sales platforms could offer opportunities for brands.

The speakers for the first webinar will be Stephen Rannekleiv, global sector strategist beverages at Rabo Research, a division of Rabobank, and Steve Melchiskey, president of distributor USA Wine West.

Rannekleiv will discuss how the route to market been affected in the US and how companies can rethink their digital paths and e-commerce strategies. Melchiskey will offer strategies for importing into the US.

The second webinar, ‘Sales Trends and Forecasts for Beverage Alcohol and Strategies for Capitalising on Off-Premise Opportunities in 2021’, will look at where the US market is headed in the next six to 12 months.

The speakers for the second webinar will be Brandy Rand, chief operating officer for the Americas at the IWSR, and Erle Martin, executive vice president, business development at Winebow.

Rand will present updated data and trends based on 2020 Covid-19 sales, along with revised forecasts and predictions for the future of the alcohol sector.

Martin will discuss how shifts in the off-trade have hit the significance of alcohol chains compared to independent retailers.

The third webinar will be held on 12 November, titled ‘Creative Market Entry Strategies for 2021 – Navigating the Three-Tier System’.

The fourth session on 3 December will be ‘Brand Planning for 2021 Part 1 – Assessing Market Fit for Brands’.

The last event in the series will take place on 10 December, titled ‘Brand Planning for 2021 Part 2 – Beyond Traditional Wine & Spirits: Reimagining Products and Route to Market’.
