Amber Beverage takes Tambovskaya Vodka to Austria

Luxembourg-based Amber Beverage Group will launch Tambovskaya Vodka in Austria this month through local distributor Mountain Spirits.

Tambovskaya Vodka will hit the Austrian market this month

Tambovskaya Osobaya Silver Vodka and Tambovskaya Pink Vodka will be available in the country through Austria’s Mountain Spirits. Amber Beverage Group (ABG) acquired a controlling stake in Mountain Spirits in December last year.

Markus Panzl, CEO of Mountain Spirits, said: “Vodka is one of Austria’s largest and most important spirit categories and is considered a staple in the country. According to the IWSR, around 7.4 million bottles of vodka were sold in Austria in 2019. We believe vodka will remain a stable and leading spirits segment in the coming years, due to its broad appeal.

“Consumer demand in Austria is shifting more and more towards better and higher quality vodka, which is why we believe that Tambovskaya Vodka will perform very well in the market.”

Tambovskaya Vodka is produced using alpha grade spirit from the Tambovskaya Oblast district in Russia. The area is known for its fertile agricultural soils and is one of the country’s leading wheat-growing regions, according to ABG.

The spirit comes from ABG’s Talvius distillery in Tambov, Russia, which is then transported to the firm’s Latvijas Balzams production facility in Riga, Latvia.

“It is an exciting time for the vodka category with growing consumer demand for authentic brands,” said Elena Azhnova, ABG route-to-market strategist.

“There’s strong potential for Tambovskaya Vodka as it is an authentic, quality product, with the spirit from Tambov Oblast in Russia being a key ingredient. We are looking forward to introducing the brand into the Austrian market with our partner Mountain Spirits.”

Described as having “honey-like sweetness” and citrus notes, Tambovskaya Osobaya Silver is based on the original Osobaya vodka recipe. It is recommended served neat over ice or topped with tonic water.

Meanwhile, Tambovskaya Pink Vodka taps into the trend for pink gins and is made from the core Tambovskaya Vodka. It offers raspberry and lime flavours and is recommended served in summer cocktails, topped with tonic water or mixed with raspberries, honey and soda, and garnished with orange, lime, strawberries and mint.
