Ardbeg Smoke Sessions

Islay distillery Ardbeg has partnered with DJ BBQ to create an online series that will guide food and drinks lovers through creating barbecue dishes and smoky whisky cocktails at home this summer.

The Smoke Sessions will see DJ BBQ – also known as Christian Stevenson – show consumers how to apply the rules of ‘smoke, wood and heat’ to create barbecue dishes and drinks using Arbeg whisky.

Fans can tune into a live edition of The Smoke Sessions tonight (24 July) at 8pm BST via Ardbeg’s Instagram channel.

Goat Chelsea Cocktail Classes

London’s Goat bar will host the latest in its series of cocktail-making masterclasses this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday (25 July), the sessions will teach participants to create four cocktails, each based around a different spirit.

Priced at £8 (US$10) per household, participants will be given a list of ingredients and essentials needed to make each cocktail ahead of the workshop. Book your spot by visiting goatchelsea.com/cocktail-club.

Glen Moray Cask Stories

Speyside Scotch whisky brand Glen Moray has partnered with award-winning chef and food writer Ben Tish, to celebrate the origins of some of its cask finishes.

The brand’s Cask Stories campaign will be available to view across social media, including Instagram and Youtube. In each instalment in the series, Tish, culinary director of London’s Norma restaurant and Stafford Hotel, will create a selection of tapas dishes and cocktails inspired by different Glen Moray whiskies.

Tish said: “I’m really excited to be working with Glen Moray and developing Mediterranean-inspired recipes to match these brilliant whiskies. The flavours of the whisky are clear and fresh – perfect for my style and a pleasure to work with.”

Spirited Sessions

The next instalment of online seminar series, Spirited Sessions Virtual Edition, will take a deep-dive into the world of whisky.

The whisky-focused virtual seminar will feature appearances from Allen Katz, distiller and co-founder of New York Distilling, and Dave Mitton, global brand ambassador for Lot 40 Rye.

As well as a chance to find out more about the history and production of whisky from around the world, the seminar will also include a special whisky quiz.

Four Roses Distillery

Bourbon brand Four Roses has reopened its visitor centres at its Kentucky distillery and warehouse and bottling facilities.

Open from Wednesday to Sunday, the visitor centres will welcome a limited numbers of guests each day. Visitors will be required to wear face masks at all times and the sites will also offer curbside service for those unable to enter each facility.

Four Roses is not yet offering tours or tasting experiences at each site.

Penderyn Virtual Tastings

Welsh whisky brand Penderyn will host the first in its series of online tastings on Thursday (30 July).

Hosted by Penderyn Distillery CEO Stephen Davies, the session will feature a guided tasting through five whiskies from Penderyn’s Gold range.

Penderyn Distillery CEO Stephen Davies said: “In times like these, we need to find new ways to keep enjoying doing the things we love.

“Virtual tastings allow us to bring the distillery’s best samples to people all over the world. It’s simple enough to buy tasters in advance, and to set up a video sampling session where people can share their thoughts and notes.”

Sipsmith Ultimate Virtual Cocktail Masterclass

Sipsmith Gin will host its Chilli and Lime virtual cocktail-making session this week.

Taking place on Thursday (30 July) at 7pm BST, the seminar will showcase the recently launched Sipsmith Chilli & Lime Gin through different cocktail recipes. Ahead of the session, participants can purchase a cocktail kit, which will include everything required to create the Chilli and Lime Margarita and Chilli and Lime Mojito.

The Lakes Distillery Tours

After opening the doors to its distillery shop early this month, England’s The Lakes Distillery is now offering tours once again.

From 10am on Friday (31 July), the distillery in Cumbria will offer visitor tours and will open its bistro once again for daytime service.

Each tour is limited to just eight people and can be booked online in advance. Tours will be available seven days a week and include the Distillery Tour and Tasting, The Lakes Whisky Tour or the Whisky and Chocolate Experience.
