Speyside distillery Glenfarclas has released a limited edition 10-year-old single cask whisky and will donate 10% of sales to a local foodbank.

The whisky had been lined up to be released as the distillery exclusive bottling at this year’s Spirit of Speyside festival in April, which was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now, Glenfarclas has partnered with London-based merchant BI Wine and Spirits to launch the limited edition expression, called Stillmen’s Dram.

From each bottle sold, Glenfarclas will donate 10% of profits to Moray Food Plus, a food bank working to help combat food insecurity in the Speyside community.

George Grant, Glenfarclas sales director and sixth generation family member, said: “The impact of the pandemic has been widespread and has affected all in some form or another, so teaming up with BI to ensure the 2020 release was made available to those unable to make it up to the distillery in late April was an easy decision to make.

“The Moray Food Plus was an obvious charity to pick as the work that they do across the Speyside community is nothing short of outstanding.”

The distillery’s still men were tasked with selecting this year’s bottling. They picked a 10-year-old first-fill oloroso Sherry butt, cask #1,446, for this year’s release.

Bottled at cask strength, 60.1% ABV, Stillmen’s Dram is limited to 658 bottles. The whisky will be available to purchase from today (16 July) on the BI website, priced at RRP £100 (US$126).

Tasting notes for Stillmen’s Dram include rich candied fruit and Sherry oak spice.
