Chapel Gate bottles blend with retailer

Ireland’s Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Co has partnered with online retailer Irishmalts.com to release JJ Corry The Rebel Blend.

The Rebel Blend is made with 14-year-old malt and 10-year-old grain whiskeys

The second collaborative release from Irish whiskey bonder Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Co and Irishmalts.com, The Rebel Blend is made using 60% 14-year-old Irish single malt and 40% 10-year-old Irish single grain whiskey matured in ex-Bourbon casks. The blend is non chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Chapel Gate has released 200 bottles of the limited edition whiskey, each bottled at 46% ABV and priced at €99.95 (US$110) in Ireland and £89.95 (US$110) in the UK.

On the nose, The Rebel Blend has “fruity floral notes”, while the palate offers an “initial burst of spice followed by more of the citrus notes mellowing off to a more sweet tone”.

Louise McGuane, founder of Chapel Gate, added: “We were delighted to collaborate with our fellow pioneers in the Irish whiskey industry with this limited release.

“This small batch of just 200 bottles is the perfect way to build on the strong relationship we have with Irishmalts.”

The launch of The Rebel Blend follows the release of JJ Corry The Battalion, which was the “world’s first” Irish whiskey finished in Tequila and mezcal casks.
