Discus webinar

Today at 1pm-2pm EST, trade body the Distilled Spirits Council of the US (Discus) will host a free legal webinar for distillers on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on existing contracts and obligations.

The webinar will feature guest speakers including Victor Jih and Eli B. Richlin of law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, who have extensive experience in commercial litigation matters.

Dante NYC virtual tour

Italian aperitivo Campari is bringing the world’s best bars to consumers at home across June.

This weekend (12-13 June), New York bar Dante, which was named World’s Best Bar last year by Tales of the Cocktail, will reopen its doors virtually to allow drinkers to quiz its bartenders and watch a live jazz band.

The experience, including the ingredients to make a classic Negroni, and two bespoke pre-made cocktails from the bar’s menu, are priced at £20 (US$25) per person. All proceeds will go to Campari UK’s Shaken Not Broken fund, in partnership with The Drinks Trust and Tipjar, which are seeking to help the on-trade during the pandemic.

Brewdog Distilling virtual tour

Today (12 June) at 4pm to 5pm BST, Brewdog Distilling Co will host an interactive tour on Zoom of its Aberdeen distillery. Brewdog Distilling Co’s master distiller Steven Kersley and World Gin Day’s Emma Stokes will host the virtual tour ahead of World Gin Day tomorrow (13 June). Kersley will show consumers how the gins are made using the world’s only triple-bubble pot still, followed by a Q&A session.

Fever-Tree Online Gin & Tonic Festival

Join mixer producer Fever-Tree for an immersive, virtual festival experience tomorrow (13 June) in celebration of World Gin Day and the classic gin and tonic serve. The event will feature guided tastings, interactive games and masterclasses from Four Pillars gin, Masterchef Australia‘s Simon Toohey and bartender Trish Brew.

Consumers can join the live stream for free, which will begin at 8.30am BST.

Sipsmith Martini Marathon

As tomorrow is World Gin Day (13 June) Sipsmith will host a 24-Hour Martini Marathon in support of the on-trade.

From 10am BST on 13 June to 9.59am the following day, the Sipsmith team will be live on Instagram making Martinis with the aim of creating 1,000 cocktails around the world. Funds raised from the sale of pre-batched Martinis will be donated to UK charity Hospitality Action. The gin brand will be offering masterclasses, interviews and Q&As during the marathon. Sipsmith master distiller Jared Brown will kick off the event at 10am.

The Lakes World Gin Day Celebration

English producer The Lakes Distillery will be marking World Gin Day tomorrow (13 June) with a guided tasting of its Lakes Gin collection at 5pm BST on Zoom. Hosted by whisky maker Dhavall Gandhi, the virtual tasting will feature The Lakes Gin, The Lakes Pink Grapefruit Gin, The Lakes Elderflower Gin Liqueur and The Lakes Rhubarb & Rosehip Gin Liqueur.

Consumers can purchase a limited edition tasting box from The Lakes Distillery for £30 (US$38).

Slingsby cooking session

To mark World Gin Day tomorrow (13 June), food writer Anna Barnett will host a 45-minute cook-a-long on Instagram (@annabarnettcooks) at 6pm BST to show viewers how to make Slingsby Gin drunken apricots with meringue and citrus cream.

The key ingredient in the recipe is the latest flavour variant from Yorkshire gin brand Slingsby, a marmalade-flavoured gin.

Bulldog Gin’s virtual house party

Bulldog Gin will also celebrate World Gin Day tomorrow (13 June) with a virtual house party in partnership with a number of DJs.

From 6pm to 10pm BST, Bulldog Gin will team up with DJ Mag for a live stream that will be broadcast across the artist’s channels. The event will be headlined by house music legend Roger Sanchez, with the line-up featuring additional sets from Franky Wah, Siggy Smalls and more.

Bulldog Gin is also encouraging consumers to donate to music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, which is dedicated to helping those affected by life-limiting illness, isolation or disability through the delivery of music services.

The Great Big World Gin Day Quiz

Scottish gin event company The Gin Fayre will host an online quiz from 7.30pm to 9.30pm BST tomorrow on World Gin Day (13 June).

The online event will consist of a number of gin and drinks-themed rounds. Prizes from distilleries that sponsored the event will be awarded at the end of each round, with an overall prize given at the end.

The rounds range from history and general gin knowledge to logo and picture rounds, as well as a music round.

Tickets are priced at £5 (US$6.30) and are available here.

Eight Lands competition

Scottish spirits producer Eight Lands has opened entries to its cocktail competition through social media. Consumers can submit a unique cocktail, which must include no more than four ingredients, one being either gin or vodka.

The winner will receive an Eight Lands cocktail masterclass for two with the Four Seasons Hotel London’s director of mixology, Harry Nikolaou, along with a meal at the hotel’s two Michelin-starred restaurant, La Dame de Pic.
