Glenfarclas adds 63yo to Pagoda Reserve Series

Speyside Scotch whisky distillery Glenfarclas has completed its Pagoda Reserve Series with the addition of 63-year-old Glenfarclas Pagoda Sapphire Reserve.

Glenfarclas Pagoda Sapphire Reserve is available in two formats, the first being the Limited Edition Silver. This format comes in either a 700ml bottle, priced at £23,783 (excluding VAT) and limited to 180 bottles, or a 1.5-litre magnum, priced at £50,964 (excluding VAT) and limited to 63 bottles.

Only 45 bottles of the Collector’s Gold Edition have been produced, featuring a 1.5-litre magnum priced at £56,060 (excluding VAT).

Crystal glassware producer Glencairn was tasked with producing the packaging for the limited edition release, and has created all the decanters in the Pagoda Reserve Series.

The Pagoda Reserve decanter, like the others in the range, is created from hand-blown lead crystal. This is the first time Glencairn has created glassware using sapphires.

The front age statement on each decanter has been adorned with 36 sapphires that make up the number ‘63’. A total of 11,000 sapphires were ordered to create the range, with only the dark blue stones of matching size chosen to use.

Solid silver and gold plated collars of both editions are individually numbered with a unique design.

Scott Davidson, Glencairn’s new product development director, said: “We are incredibly proud of our work on the Glenfarclas Pagoda Series and believe we have delivered some of our finest and most exceptional crystal cut decanters to date.

“It has been an absolute joy to work on this project as it has given us the chance to incorporate valuable gemstones into our decanters for the first time. Each and every decanter is a truly unique work of art to honour the quality of the whisky inside.”

Glenfarclas launched the Glenfarclas Pagoda Ruby Reserve in March, a 62-year-old Scotch.
