Glen Moray unveils digital whisky series

Speyside distillery Glen Moray has created a new monthly online series to bring drinkers together and share knowledge, called Whisky Surgeries.

The digital whisky events will be hosted by Glen Moray’s head of whisky creation, Kirstie McCallum, who will gather “curious drinkers who are missing out on their usual distillery visits and festivals this year”.

The first event will take place at 8pm BST on 7 July and will explore unusual cask maturation. Viewers can take part in a virtual tasting and tour of Glen Moray’s Warehouse 1, home to the brand’s rare casks and maturation experiments.

During the session, McCallum will share knowledge on the topic, answer questions and reveal secrets behind Glen Moray’s approach to flavour.

“I’m really looking forward to presenting our first Whisky Surgery session as there is nothing I enjoy more than sharing a dram with enthusiasts and chatting about one of my favourite subjects – whisky exploration,” said McCallum.

“Glen Moray has a unique history of cask experimentation and I have a good few anecdotes to share on the discoveries that have been made in our distillery. Bringing people who are interested in whisky together to share knowledge is another passion of mine so this new series provides a great platform to do this.”

There are 50 spaces available for the free event and the first 20 people who sign up will receive a complimentary Glen Moray tasting kit, which will contain the new Madeira Cask Project and Rhum Agricole Cask Finish Project expressions to enjoy during the session.

Glen Moray has put a strong focus on enhancing its digital strategy during the pandemic with virtual tours, tastings, competitions and masterclasses.
