World Whisky Forum to host Covid-19 panel discussion

The World Whisky Forum will host the World Whisky Talk: Coronavirus next week, the first in a new series of online discussions that will focus on key issues facing the industry.

World Whisky Talk: Coronavirus will see industry members share ideas on how to weather the pandemic

The World Whisky Talk: Coronavirus will take place at 5pm BST on Wednesday 27 May as a 90-minute panel discussion on Zoom. As a trade-only event, the talk will offer a platform for professionals to discuss ideas and offer insights into how the sector can combat the Covid-19 crisis.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Becky Paskin, whisky and spirits writer, consultant and founder of Our Whisky.

Speakers will include Stephen Teeling, sales and marketing director at the Teeling Whiskey Company; Anthony Wills, founder and managing director of Kilchoman Distillery; and Kristiane Sherry, head of content at Atom Group, to name just a few.

Topics to be discussed will include operating a distillery while adhering to social distancing, launching new expressions during the pandemic, communicating with consumers through social media and digital tastings, coping with the closure of the on-trade and travel retail channels, the future of whisky tourism, adapting to direct shipping, working with retailers, charitable and community initiatives, and more.

Paskin said: “The whisky industry has always existed as an extended global family sharing ideas and experiences to progress the industry as a whole.

“There’s never been a more important time for the industry to unite and learn from one another as we collectively face the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This online forum is an unmissable meeting of minds set to provide invaluable insight for any whisky professional.”

Tickets to the World Whisky Talk: Coronavirus are free to trade members only and limited to 100 spots. To book your place in the forum, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/world-whisky-talk-coronavirus-tickets-105496775696.
