Hong Kong bars to reopen
Bars will be allowed to reopen in Hong Kong from tomorrow (Friday 8 May) under strict social distancing rules, which include a maximum capacity of 50%.
Bars in Hong Kong will reopen from Friday 8 May
Bars and pubs must not exceed 50% of their normal seating capacity, and no more than four people can be seated together at one table at any time.
Furthermore, live performances and dancing are prohibited.
These measures will remain in place for 14 days from 8 May until 21 May.
A spokesperson for the Food and Health Bureau said: “In light of the more stabilised situation in Hong Kong in terms of the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the recent weeks and the ‘suppress and life’ strategy adopted to contain the epidemic, a window of opportunity exists for us to lift some of the social distancing measures at the moment.”
In restaurants, the number of people allowed to be seated together from tomorrow will increase from four to eight.
Tables must be kept 1.5 metres apart and masks must be worn except when eating or drinking. Karaoke at all premises will not be permitted.
