Salcombe Gin to distil charity bottling on Instagram Live
By Melita KielyEnglish spirits producer Salcombe Gin will go live on Instagram next week to co-create a charity expression with viewers.
Jason Nickels, master distiller at Salcombe GinSalcombe Gin’s master distiller, Jason Nickels, will go live on the social media platform at 7pm BST on Thursday 9 April to make the gin.
Nickels will take viewers through the distillation process and offer advice on how to create a “balanced and harmonious” gin.
Spectators will be able to choose their favourite botanicals and vote for the final recipe during the live stream, which can be viewed via the Salcombe Gin account: @Salcombegin.
Those watching will also be asked to help name the new gin, which will be available to pre-order online at salcombegin.com. The expression will be priced at £37.50 (US$47.50) per 500ml bottle, with all proceeds going to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.
Nickels said: “It is vital that while we are all faced with these uncertain times that we stay connected and continue to lift each other’s spirits. With this live distillation we want people to get together and have some fun while also creating a great tasting new gin, which can be enjoyed at home.
“We have received an incredible response to our complimentary hand sanitiser for the health care and public services, and it is important to us that we continue to support the amazing staff and volunteers who are working tirelessly during the covid-19 pandemic.
“Therefore, we will be donating all profits from this limited edition release to the NHS Charities Together Urgent Appeal, which is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of NHS staff and volunteers.”
