Rachel Barrie leads BenRiach and GlenDronach Instagram series
BenRiach and The GlenDronach’s master blender, Rachel Barrie, and global brand ambassador, Stewart Buchanan, will host a new online conversation series on Instagram to educate whisky fans about single malts.
Rachel Barrie has more than 27 years of experience in creating single malt whisky
Barrie and Buchanan will invite whisky drinkers to join each conversation on @BenRiach and @GlenDronach on Instagram Live, with the option to ask questions in advance.
Kicking off today (8 April), Speyside whisky BenRiach will host its ‘Exploring Flavour with BenRiach’ at 8pm BST on Instagram. Buchanan will present the first session, which will take viewers on the brand’s distillation journey and explore how it impacts the flavour of the single malt whisky.
“My job is to travel the globe, sharing the stories of BenRiach and GlenDronach,” said Buchanan. “Now that I am grounded, so to speak, it’s great to be able to use this time to delve deeper into our whiskies from the comfort of my own home in Speyside, passing on knowledge and encouraging conversation.”
The GlenDronach will host its first Instagram Live session next Wednesday (15 April) at 8pm BST. The conversation will delve into the Scottish notion of ‘coorie’, which means to cosy and snuggle in.
Barrie and Buchanan will discuss traditional whisky making at the Highland distillery and how they like to ‘coorie in’ with The GlenDronach at home, encouraging viewers to develop both their flavour palate and single malt expertise.
Spectators will be able to send questions to Barrie in advance via @GlenDronach to learn more about her role as a master blender with more than 27 years’ experience in single malt production.
“One of the most special things about whisky is its ability to bring people together through a shared passion and interest in its stories,” said Barrie.
“This is why we are inviting whisky lovers to make the most of this time at home to learn something new whilst staying safe. Whether it’s embracing the notion of ‘coorie’, or learning about the art of exploring flavour in single malt, we hope that people enjoy tuning in to join us for a dram.”
