Libertines singer narrates Kraken audiobook

The Libertines’ Carl Barât will take part in Kraken rum’s new weekly series of audiobooks, called Krakenory.

The Libertines’ Carl Barât will read the first instalment in the Krakenory series

Barât is the first star to feature in the Krakenory series, which was inspired by BBC children’s television programme Jackanory.

The series sees the Can’t Stand Me Now singer read passages from Jules Verne’s novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

Barât said: “We’re living in strange, uncertain times, and until we return to normality, we need to find interesting, ways to keep ourselves amused. And if listening to my dulcet tones reading from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea helps you escape, even for 25 minutes or so, then pull up a pew, make yourself a cocktail and embark on a voyage into the unknown.”

After launching on 27 March, a new episode in the Krakenory series will be released each week on Kraken’s Facebook and Instagram profiles.

Alongside each episode, Kraken will also unveil a bespoke rum-based cocktail created by bartenders from across the UK. Ahead of each instalment, Kraken will announce the ingredients for the cocktail, encouraging consumers to mix up the drink at home.
