Jameson creates digital platform for bartenders
By Nicola CarruthersIrish whiskey brand Jameson has launched a new online platform to support and educate bartenders during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Jameson Hosts platform will offer cocktail masterclasses and whiskey tutorials
The new Jameson Hosts trade engagement platform provides a space for members of the global bar industry to receive wellbeing support, enhance their technical knowledge and collaborate from their own homes through video content.
Jameson will also offer financial rewards to those creating videos for the platform.
Brendan Buckley, international marketing director at Irish Distillers, said: “The global bar community has dedicated its life and career to the service of others.
“Now, more than ever, this community needs a new place to come together and share inspiring stories, real-world guidance and encouraging words to help each other overcome the challenges they face today and those that lie ahead.
“We hope this will offer both practical and emotional support through this challenging time and we very much look forward to celebrating with all our hosts at Midleton soon.”
The online videos will cover cocktail masterclasses, wellbeing sessions, career coaching and whiskey tutorials. They will also feature advice from bar teams around the globe as they adapt to the current challenges and prepare for when on-trade businesses reopen.
In addition, Jameson Hosts will present a live event in late 2020 or early 2021 for the industry, which will see bartenders, bar owners, brewers, waiters and more, invited to take part in a three-day festival at the brand’s Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland.
The festival will invite participants to host their own workshops and offer viewers the opportunity to explore Jameson’s production with exclusive access to the Old Midleton Distillery and the site’s blending lab.
Last month, Jameson pledged to donate US$500,000 to the charity of the United States Bartenders’ Guild to support on-trade members affected by covid-19.
