Imbibe Live cancels 2020 show

Trade show Imbibe Live in London has cancelled its 2020 event due to the coronavirus pandemic and set a new date for 2021.

Trade show Imbibe Live was launched in 2010

Organised by Reed Exhibitions, the annual industry event was due to be held on 29-30 June at Olympia London. The next show will now take place at the same venue from 5-6 July 2021.

Launched in 2010, Imbibe Live usually welcomes wines, spirits, beer, soft drinks and mixer exhibitors from across the world.

In a statement released yesterday (28 April), the organiser said: “Over the last few weeks, our industry has witnessed the devastating effect the pandemic is having around the world, and we are committed to supporting the wonderful people who work so hard in hospitality and beyond.

“The situation is ever changing. The pressure our customers are under is immense. We have been continually speaking with all our partners and listening to their feedback, as well as the information coming from the UK government and our public health authorities, so it is with heavy hearts that we have made the decision to postpone Imbibe Live until 5-6 July 2021.”

The organisers said it will work with its partners to keep the “community connected over the coming months and though it will be in a different form this year, we hope to have exciting news to share with you soon”.

The event has become the latest show to be cancelled or postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis. Earlier this month, New Orleans festival Tales of the Cocktail revealed it will change its format to an online event.

Reed Exhibitions also rescheduled its Bar Convent Brooklyn 2020 trade show, moving the event from 9-10 July to 11-12 August.

Flagship event Bar Convent Berlin is currently set to go ahead on 12-14 October in a bigger venue for 2020.
