Verano unveils passionfruit-flavoured gin

William Grant & Sons has extended its Verano flavoured gin range with the launch of a passionfruit variant.

Verano Passion Fruit Gin is targeted at drinking occasions during summer

In May 2019, Scottish spirits group William Grant & Sons unveiled the Verano brand, which is made with Spanish fruits. It launched with two flavours: Verano Watermelon and Verano Lemon.

The range is described as “colourful, accessible and informal” and was inspired by the “relaxed lifestyle and colourful vibrancy that comes with Spanish summers”.

Following “last year’s summer success”, William Grant has added Verano Passion Fruit Gin to the range. The new gin is infused with “juicy, tropical passionfruit” to provide a “sweet and fruity flavour”.

The 40% ABV gin was created by Kayleigh Johnson, part of the William Grant & Sons team based at the Girvan plant in Scotland. The site is also home to William Grant’s Hendrick’s gin brand, which unveiled a £13 million (US$17m) distillery expansion in October 2018.

Ifan Jenkins, UK marketing director at William Grant & Sons, said: “Our hugely popular Verano gin range deserves a brand new, delicious flavour, which not only tastes fantastic, but gives people a new opportunity to try ‘top trending’ passionfruit in a fresh way.

“With Verano we have introduced more vibrancy, informality and sociability into enjoying gin, and we anticipate Verano Passion Fruit Gin being another big hit, with friends enjoying uplifting drinking moments all summer long.”

The passionfruit-flavoured expression is recommended served with either tonic water or lemonade, and garnished with passionfruit.

Verano Passion Fruit Gin is available to buy in more than 85 Slug & Lettuce bars in the UK, and will be unveiled across all 770 Stonegate venues in the UK over spring and summer. It will also be available in Asda from 15 March, priced at RRP £23 (US$29.40) per 700ml.
