Sazerac to create 5m bottles of hand sanitiser

Buffalo Trace owner Sazerac has become the latest producer to make hand sanitiser across its US sites following “massive industrial demand”.

Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky has started making the disinfectant

New Orleans-headquartered Sazerac said it has begun producing the disinfectant for some of the world’s largest organisations in healthcare, government, military, retail, distribution, aviation, pharmaceuticals, and banking.

“We have seen the great need for hand sanitiser from industries across the board – many of these organisations are desperate, as supplies have dwindled,” said Matt Maimone, Sazerac’s chief operating officer.

Maimone said the firm has also expanded production capacity to “cope with the massive industrial demand”.

He continued: “We have received requests to date for over five million bottles of sanitiser, which we are prepared to meet, and possibly more, across our sites in North America.”

Miamone also praised its workers “who have stepped up to meet this significant challenge in addition to continuing to produce many of the world’s best whiskeys and spirits”.

Production of hand sanitiser began at the Kentucky-based Buffalo Trace Distillery last Friday (27 March). Sazerac’s other sites across the US are also “gearing up” to make the disinfectant.

Sazerac is asking businesses to email info@sazerac.com if hand sanitiser is needed or fill out a form on https://forms.gle/ywtypRX5iDqBHbMS7.
