Fever-Tree releases low-calorie soda range

Tonic water producer Fever-Tree has launched a new range of low-calorie flavoured sodas to attract health-conscious consumers.

Fever-Tree’s Soda Collection provides consumers with “sophisticated low-calorie Spritz serves”

The four-strong range, called The Soda Collection, has been made with “naturally sourced” ingredients.

The collection comprises: Raspberry & Rose Soda, Mexican Lime Soda, Italian Blood Orange Soda and White Grape & Apricot Soda.

The sodas can be paired with a variety of spirits from vodka and gin to vermouths and Italian bitters.

Mexican Lime Soda is recommended served with vodka and a lime wedge, while Italian Blood Orange can be paired with vodka or Italian aperitifs and a slice of blood orange.

Raspberry & Rose soda can be consumed with pink gin and garnished with raspberries, while White Grape & Apricot is recommended best served with white vermouth and garnished with a lemon twist and mint.

Rose Cottingham, senior innovation manager at Fever-Tree, said: “From handpicked rose petals in Bulgaria to zesty Mexican limes and the highest quality fruits from different regions across Italy, we have created a versatile range of mixers to be enjoyed with a whole raft of spirits, fortified wines and bitters during the spring and summer months.”

Fever-Tree said the range allows bartenders to “create sophisticated yet simple low-calorie Spritz serves for increasingly health-conscious consumers”.

The mixer manufacturer said consumers are moving towards “longer, lighter and refreshing drinks” such as Spritzes.

The Spritz serve is “typically complex and time-consuming to make” with three or more ingredients such as wine or Prosecco, according to Fever-Tree. The new soda range “sits at the heart of this year’s drinking occasions”.

Craig Harper, on-trade sales manager, said: “We know that consumers are more conscious than ever about when and what they drink, whilst still looking for a premium experience.

“The response to the new range from our trade customers has been fantastic. Just as we’ve done before with our tonic and ginger ranges, we’ll be supporting our trade partners with bespoke menus, training, and digital and experiential activity throughout the summer.”

The Fever-Tree Soda Collection is available in 200ml glass bottles in the UK on-trade and will launch in the off-trade in the run up to Easter 2020. It will be supported by a trade marketing campaign.

In January this year, Fever-Tree estimated that its 2019 UK sales have fallen 1% after the market witnessed a “challenging Christmas” period with a slowdown in consumer spending.
