Kilbeggan Single Pot Still launches in US

Beam Suntory-owned Kilbeggan Distilling Company has released a limited edition single pot still Irish whiskey in the US.

Kilbeggan Single Pot Still was distilled and matured solely at the brand’s distillery in Ireland

Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is the second limited edition release from the distillery that has been completely distilled and matured at the Kilbeggan Distillery since the site was restored in 2010.

Bottled at 43% ABV, the whiskey is available in the US from February, priced at US$44.99 per 750ml.

Michael Egan, US Irish whiskey ambassador for Kilbeggan Distilling Company, said: “This remarkable whiskey is a glorious tribute to the traditional Irish pot still style and the community that kept Ireland’s oldest continually licensed distillery alive over centuries of trial and triumph.

“It is a truly unique spirit with a rare mash that has produced a flavour unlike anything available today.”

Kilbeggan Single Pot Still was made from a mash of malted barley, raw barley and 2.5% oats. The whiskey is said to be “soft and mellow”, with fruit flavours and “light, lingering spice and a rich, creamy mouthfeel”.

Single pot still whiskeys are only produced in Ireland, at a single distillery that is double or triple distilled from a mix of malted and unmalted barley, and up to 5% of other grains.
