Spirit Master: Skinny Moo Toffee Liqueur

As consumers become more health conscious and seek lower-alcohol alternatives, we put the spotlight on a low-calorie cream liqueur that scored highly in a blind tasting.

Every week, SB celebrates some of the top-scoring Master medallists from The Global Spirits Masters blind-tasting competition.

As more drinkers than ever lower their alcohol intake after the festive period and take part in Dry January, we thought that now would be the perfect time to bring to your attention an award-winning 12% ABV liqueur.

During The Travel Retail Masters 2019, which was held in August last year, judges assessed the breadth of spirits in travel retail.

The successful Liqueurs round saw five Master medals awarded to entrants, including the “buttery and delicious” Skinny Moo Toffee Popcorn.

“It’s so rare that liqueurs get the recognition they deserve, but this definitely deserved a Master,” one judge said of the expression.

Released in summer 2019, the Skinny Moo range is a low-calorie range of country cream liqueurs. The Toffee Popcorn and Peanut Butter variants contain 55 calories per 25ml serve and are gluten-free. Both expressions have an ABV of 12%.

Produced by Quintessential Brands, the range has been designed to offer consumers a “lighter treat” and is targeted at young adults.

Skinny Moo Toffee Popcorn is priced at £13.95 (US$18.25) per 700ml bottle.

In total, 12 Master medals were awarded to products across a number of spirits categories during The Travel Retail Masters 2019.
