Big Peat 27 Years Old completes Vintage Series
Scotch whisky bottler Douglas Laing has concluded Big Peat’s The Vintage Series with the launch of a 27-year-old Islay blended malt.
Only 3,000 bottles of Big Peat 27 Years Old Black Edition have been released worldwide
Big Peat 27 Years Old Black Edition joins the 26-year-old Platinum Edition, launched in 2018, and the 25-year-old Gold Edition, released in 2017.
The Scotch whisky series was created to explore how a blend of aged single cask, single malts could change over three years.
Bottled at 48.3% ABV, without chill filtration or caramel colouring, only 3,000 bottles of Big Peat 27 Years Old Black Edition have been released globally, priced at RRP £195 (US$254) per 700ml.
Cara Laing, director of whisky, said: “In 2017 we selected a number of sister casks that were all destined to be bottled within Big Peat’s Vintage Trilogy.
“Back then we set out to bring to life the journey of the spirit with each year that passed, and the experiment has been a fascinating one.
“Big Peat’s signature sweet smokiness has remained at the heart of the Gold, Platinum and now the Black Edition, but this latest release displays a new complexity that has deepened with the passing of time.
“This ‘grown up’ limited edition within the Big Peat portfolio will serve to add further credibility to what is undoubtedly a fun brand with very respectable credentials.”
