TFWA re-elects Alain Maingreaud as president

Alain Maingreaud has been re-elected as president of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) for another year following a unanimous vote from the trade body’s board and management committee.

Alain Maingreaud will hold the position of TFWA president for another year

The TFWA president is elected each year for a 12-month period, and voted for during a meeting between the TFWA board and management committee in December.

Maingreaud was first elected TFWA president in December 2018 following the departure of Erik Juul-Mortensen, who held the role for 19 years.

Maingreaud said: “I am honoured to have been re-elected as president of TFWA for another year, and I would like to thank members of the board and management committee for their continued support.

“Our values and focus remain unchanged, and we will continue to build on the success of the association and its events in order to help the duty free and travel retail industry continue to flourish over the next year.”

Maingreaud joined TFWA in 1995 as commercial director and was elected managing director in 2010. In this position, he was tasked with the day-to-day management of the TFWA and implementing the organisation’s medium- and long-term strategies.

During his speech at the 2019 TFWA opening conference in Cannes, France, Maingreaud stressed that the global travel retail channel must start to act on climate change or risk “appearing arrogant”.
