Heinemann Italia names new managing director
German global travel retailer Gebr Heinemann has appointed Fulvio Fassone as managing director of Heinemann Italia as it aims to grow the business in Italy.
Fulvio Fassone will be the new managing director of Heinemann Italia
Fassone will take up the position from 1 January 2020 and will take over from Karl Niendorf, who will “dedicate himself to a new task” within the global Heinemann network from January.
Christoph Stump, director sales central and southeast Europe at Gebr Heinemann, said: “Fulvio Fassone has a profound track record as [an] airport retail expert and we are convinced that he will invest in his knowledge in a profitable way for Heinemann Italia.
“Over the past years, we have successfully set the course for strategic growth here. Together with Fulvio Fassone, we now want to grow even further and use his distinguished experience in travel retail to advance Heinemann in Italy.”
Fassone has more than 15 years of professional experience as commercial director at Italian airports.
Before joining Heinemann Italia, he spent several years as executive vice president commercial at Rome Airport. Prior to this role, Fassone worked as commercial and marketing director at Turin airport and retail director of Venice airport.
Furthermore, he held the position of president of the Italian Travel Retail Association (ITRA) and vice president business development at the European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC) for several years.
