Aberfeldy and World of Zing create Hot Toddy syrups
Highland Scotch whisky brand Aberfeldy has teamed up with pre-batched cocktail specialist World of Zing to create a range of Hot Toddy syrups.
The Hot Toddy syrups are said to bring out the honey flavours of Aberfeldy 12 Year Old
The two brands have worked together to incorporate a modern interpretation of traditional Hot Toddy spices into three different syrups.
The Hot Toddy dates back to the 18th century and traditionally includes exotic spices found across the British Empire’s trading routes. The drink was often consumed for its purported medicinal qualities.
Made with a base of British honey, the syrups come in three flavours: Classic, made with traditional Hot Toddy seasonal spices including allspice, star anise, nutmeg, cinnamon and earl grey; Chilli Mocha, which adds coffee, cacao and chipotle chillis to the classic spice recipe; and Gingerbread, which in addition to the classic spices includes ginger and galangal root.
“The Hot Toddy is such an iconic whisky serve; it really is a great winter warmer,” said Georgie Bell, global malts ambassador at Aberfeldy owner Bacardi. “Each syrup blend we’ve created with World of Zing melds harmoniously with Aberfeldy 12’s honeyed flavour profile to give three different variations on this traditional and sometimes forgotten serve.”
Pritesh Mody, founder of World of Zing, added: “Given World of Zing’s reputation for flavour innovation in the drinks industry, this project is the perfect way for us to showcase how to revitalise a well-known but rarely ordered cocktail.”
The syrups are available from www.worldofzing.com and www.drinksupermarket.com, carrying an RRP of £7 each (US$9.20). Members of the trade can buy cases of six at an RRP of £24 (US$31.55).
