Spirit ‘replica’ brand Lyre’s launches in UK

Australian alcohol-free drinks brand Lyre’s has launched its range of 13 “replica spirits”, including an ‘absinthe’, ‘London dry spirit’ and ‘American malt’, in the UK.

Lyre’s has been created to substitute classic spirits in cocktails

Named after the Australian lyrebird, which has the ability to mimic natural and artificial sounds, Lyre’s is described as “the world’s most comprehensive range of alcohol-free spirits and liqueurs”.

For three years, the Lyre’s team worked with sommeliers to create the flavour profile of each product, using a combination of essences, extracts and distillates to create the “aroma, taste, appearance and tell-tale burn” of the spirits they aim to replicate.

Mark Livings, CEO of Lyre’s Spirits, said: “We didn’t want to craft original flavours that were botanical. We wanted a product portfolio that faithfully mimicked the taste and flavour of the world’s favourite spirits, and the building blocks of our favourite cocktails.

“Now, mindful and low-and-no drinkers can enjoy their favourite cocktails at home or in a bar without compromise.”

Lyre’s range also includes an ‘amaretti’, ‘dark cane spirit’, ‘white cane spirit’, ‘orange sec’ and ‘apéritif rosso’. Each product in the Lyre’s range has an RRP of £20 (US$26) and is being distributed in the UK by Proof Drinks.
