Distilled Spirits Council offers ‘affordable’ healthcare

Trade body the Distilled Spirits Council has launched an “affordable” healthcare scheme for its members in the hope it will provide security for US ‘craft’ distillers.

Members of the Distilled Spirits Council will have access to the Nam Health Care scheme

Members in approved states will be able to access the proposed healthcare through the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Health Care scheme, while those in states where the programme is not available will be connected with “small-group options” in their home states.

Distilled Spirits Council president and CEO Chris Swonger said: “America’s craft distillers are critical to the vitality of the spirits industry in this country. And those small businesses – and the men and women they employ – deserve good health care and the feeling of security it provides.

“That’s why Discus [the Distilled Spirits Council] has leveraged its relationship with the National Association of Manufacturers to provide quality health care options at affordable rates to the fastest-growing segment of our membership – craft distillers.”

NAM Health Care will offer a portfolio of health benefits to businesses with two to 99 employees. Members will have access to health care company United Healthcare’s Choice Plus care provider network of more than 1.3 million physicians and care professionals, 6,000 hospitals and other care facilities throughout the US.

Under NAM Health Care, eligible member companies also will have access to supplemental benefits, including dental and vision.

Distilled Spirits Council members can enrol in the scheme now. To request a quote for the scheme, interested businesses should visit discus.namhealthcare.com/join.

In September, the US trade body appointed Courtney J Armour as chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
