Lagavulin launches Offerman Edition whisky

Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman has teamed up with Islay distillery Lagavulin to launch a limited edition 11-year-old Scotch whisky.

Nick Offerman: “I am giggling with delight at the notion of people enjoying this limited edition Scotch”

The new single malt, called Lagavulin Offerman Edition Aged 11 Years, has launched as part of the brand’s ongoing partnership with Offerman.

Offerman and his Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson are known for their love for Lagavulin. The collaboration between Lagavulin and Offerman began in 2014 with the launch of the My Tales of Whisky series.

The “everlasting friendship” is being honoured by the release of the new Lagavlin Offerman Edition.

“I have spent countless hours parsing the alchemy for a new, limited edition whisky with Lagavulin distillery manager Colin Gordon,” said Offerman.

“Together, we have concocted a most edifying nectar – Lagavulin Offerman Edition Aged 11 Years.

“Carrying the signature Lagavulin Islay single malt peatiness with sweet berry and orchard fruit notes, this Scotch whisky is for those who adore Lagavulin’s patented smoky flavour and the patience required to masterfully distil a single malt is what they told me to say, but I would rather just tell you that I am giggling with delight at the notion of people enjoying this limited edition Scotch.”

Lagavulin has also unveiled the next instalment in its My Tales of Whisky series. The four videos star Offerman as he discovers Lagavulin’s distillation process, the role of peat, the craftsmanship of making barrels and the declaration of Lagavulin’s name. The videos can be watched on the My Tales of Whisky Youtube channel and the next instalment can be viewed below.

Lagavulin Offerman Edition Aged 11 Years is available in the US while supplies last with an RRP of US$74.99.

It will also be sold on Reservebar.com, where a select number of bottles will come with a free gift from The Offerman Workshop, a Los Angeles-based group of woodworkers founded by Offerman.
