Aberfeldy adds Sherry finish to Exceptional Cask Series
By Owen BellwoodBacardi has unveiled a travel retail-exclusive Sherry cask-finished Aberfeldy Scotch whisky, the latest release in the brand’s Exceptional Cask Series.
Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask 15 Year Old Sherry Finish spent three years in ex-oloroso Sherry casks
Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask 15 Year Old Sherry Finish will be available exclusively at Heinemann airport stores around the world from 1 November.
The whisky was initially matured in oak casks for 12 years before being filled into oloroso Sherry casks selected by malt master Stephanie MacLeod for a further three years of ageing.
The 15-year-old whisky is said to have subtle ginger spice flavours with notes of “cinnamon, rich brown sugar softened with a drizzle of golden syrup and treacle toffee”.
Thomas Koch, director of international key accounts at Bacardi Global Travel Retail, said: “We are delighted to release the Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask 15 Year Old Sherry Finish with Gebr Heinemann across their airport stores.
“The consumer appeal of award-winning Aberfeldy goes from strength to strength as demonstrated by its climbing the charts towards the top of the category with notably strong performance in Europe and in Asia.
“With the growing credibility of global travel retail as a specialist channel, increasing numbers of whisky collectors and connoisseurs know that luxury airport stores like Heinemann’s are the place to seek out rare finds like this.”
Bottled at 43% ABV, Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask 15 Year Old Sherry Finish is priced at €100 (US$110) per 700ml gift pack.
