Mucha Liga Tequila makes UK debut with Gravity Drinks

London-based beverage distributor Gravity Drinks has released a new Tequila range in the UK, called Mucha Liga.

The Mucha Liga Tequila collection comprises three expressions: blanco, reposado and añejo.

The range was inspired by Mexico’s ‘lucha libre’ sport (a form of professional wrestling), and was made in the Juanacatlan distillery in the La Ciénega region of Jalisco, Mexico.

Each expression was made from 100% blue weber agave grown 1,530 meters above sea level. The elevation is said to give the agave plants greater access to sunlight, resulting in more residual sugars in the agave. As such, the end Tequila has a “slightly sweeter” flavour.

Mucha Liga Bravo Blanco is said to be “natural, light and herbaceous”, and will be priced at RRP £42.95 (US$53).

Mucha Liga Canibal Reposado has been rested in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels for up to six months. It is said have notes of caramel and blue agave, and will cost RRP £47.95 (US$60).

Rounding off the trio is Mucha Liga Invicto Añejo, which has been aged for 18 months in white American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. It is described as being robust, smooth and bold. This Tequila has an RRP of £51.95 (US$65).

Each bottled at 40% ABV, the range is available through retailers including Harvey Nichols, Master of Malt, Drink Supermarket and Amazon.
