GlenAllachie adds 15-year-old whisky to core range

Speyside distillery The GlenAllachie has extended its core range of single malts with the launch of a 15-year-old whisky.

The GlenAllachie 15 Year Old has “waves of banana, orange peel and dark chocolate”

The GlenAllachie 15 Year Old is aged in two types of Sherry casks – Pedro Ximénez (PX) and oloroso puncheons and hogsheads.

Master distiller Billy Walker describes the 15-year-old whisky as the “perfect representation of the distillery’s DNA”.

The new offering joins the core range, which includes a 10-year-old cask strength, an 18-year-old, and a 25-year-old.

“I’ve been working on our 15-year-old release since we acquired GlenAllachie back in October 2017,” said Walker.

“In that time I’ve been intimately following the development of the various casks and I believe the 15-year-old is the perfect balance of distillery and cask influence.”

He added: “For this 15-year-old, I chose PX and oloroso puncheons and hogsheads to deliver complete depth and finish.

“This whisky is rich in sweet spices, raisins and butterscotch, with waves of banana, orange peel and dark chocolate.

“The extra years the whisky spent maturing in the Sherry wood casks extends the flavour further.

“We work with a variety of casks although as we move forward you will see Sherry wood influence coming to the fore.”

The 46% ABV GlenAllachie 15 Year Old is priced at £62.99 (US$76.68). It will be rolled out across the UK and globally.

Last month, The GlenAllachie released a new limited edition range of single malts, which have been finished in a variety of casks including Port, rye and Sherry.

The Speyside distillery also recently opened its new visitor centre.
