Westward single malt whiskey makes Asia debut

American single malt whiskey brand Westward has made its first appearance in Asia and is now available to purchase in Singapore.

Westward Whiskey is a single malt made at the brand’s Portland distillery

The Portland-based distillery makes its whiskey by brewing an American pale ale using 100% locally malted barley, ale yeast and low temperature fermentation.

The beer is then distilled twice in pot stills and matured in “lightly charred” American oak barrels.

Westward Whiskey is bottled at 45% abv and will be available to purchase in restaurants and bars in Singapore, including Manhattan Bar, Six Senses Maxwell and Bar Stories, as well as online via dyspatchr.com.

Christian Krogstad, founder and master distiller, Westward, said: “Following a successful launch in Australia, we’re thrilled to bring Westward whiskey to Asia with our launch in Singapore.

“We’re seeing a lot of excitement for American single malts as whiskey enthusiasts around the world discover the category and look forward to expanding here in Singapore.”

Last year, Diageo-owned investment unit Distill Ventures added Westward to its portfolio.
