Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet will step down as CEO of Rémy Cointreau before the end of the year due to personal reasons.
Chapoulaud-Floquet was appointed CEO of the French drinks producer in September 2014 after 20 years with L’Oreal Group, which included heading the luxury products division at the company’s US office. She also worked with Louis Vuitton where she was president and CEO of the Americas.
Chapoulaud-Floquet will remain CEO until her successor is appointed.
In a statement from Rémy Cointreau Group, its board of directors expressed “deep gratitude for her commitment and contribution to the quality of the group’s results and successful strategy”.
While in the position, Chapoulaud-Floquet has seen the group’s sales surpass €1 billion (US$1.12bn), and its latest financial results saw total sales for the 12 months to 31 March 2019 reach €1.21 billion (US$1.35bn).
Chapoulaud-Floquet said: “It is with great emotion that I will leave the Rémy Cointreau Group at the end of the year, once the torch [is] passed to my successor. I am serene, as the group’s results, foundations, teams and strategic vision allows it to envisage the future with optimism, ambition and success.”
While under Chapoulaud-Floquet’s guidance, Rémy Cointreau set up a dedicated whisky business unit following acquisitions in the category and entered into “exclusive negotiations” with the Brillet family to acquire Maison de Cognac JR Brillet.
