At the Havana Club Bar Entrepreneurs Awards, Carina Soto Velasquez, co-owner of Quixotic Projects in Paris, was crowned the winner after impressing the judges by “shaking up the Paris bar scene”.

Soto Velasquez beat 10 finalists during the final in Havana, Cuba, to win the title. The inaugural competition celebrates the people behind leading bars around the world.

Quixotic Projects, which Soto Velasquez co-founded with Josh Fontaine and Adam Tsou, has “transformed” the French capital with five new venues: Candelaria, Glass, Le Mary Celeste, Les Grands Verres and Hero.

Patrón Tequila was on hand at the launch of this year’s Cash & Rocket women-only road trip in London earlier this week.

Cash & Rocket will see 80 “influential” women drive from London to Monte Carlo from 4-6 June, and prior to the first day’s drive Patrón hosted a VIP gala for participants and guests.

The guestlist included A-list stars such as Paris Hilton (pictured left), Chloe Green, Lady Kitty Spencer, Amy Jackson and Emeli Sandé. During the evening, guests were treated to a live performance from Sandé and a host of Patrón Tequila signature serves.

Italian vermouth brand Martini has taken to London’s Merchant Square to host its Fiero Waterfront summer pop-up bar.

The London pop-up will offer consumers complimentary rides on a vintage Riva yacht to Little Venice and back, whilst sipping Martini Fiero and tonics and enjoying authentic Italian aperitivo nibbles.

Launched to celebrate the release of Martini Fiero, the pop-up will be open until 21 June.

London late-night bar The Little Yellow Door has partnered with The Botanist Gin to launch the capital’s first chlorophyll-based brunch cocktail.

The “quirky breakfast cocktail”, called The Hangover, has been created to “wake up, re-energise and invigorate guests minds”. Made with Botanist Gin, elderflower, egg white and chlorophyll, the cocktail can also be served with an activated charcoal shot on the side for an “extra detoxifying kick”.

The Hangover is available to try from The Little Yellow Door’s Saturday brunch menu.

Kentucky straight Bourbon brand Rebel Yell has announced the UK finalists of its Bourbon Battle cocktail competition.

Mikey Pendergast, Lewis Parry and Kealan Lafferty each triumphed at the regional semi-finals in the south of England, north of England, and Scotland respectfully.

The bartending trio will now compete at the UK final of the Bourbon Battle in London on 17 June, the winner of which will travel to Kentucky for the global final on 19 September.

This week, Scottish secretary David Mundell paid tribute to the Scotch whisky industry with the unveiling of a new showcase to celebrate whisky and the people that make it.

The showcase included a specially designed piece of furniture made with copper and oak that was created to highlight the craft behind whisky.

The new whisky display has been designed and built by experts and apprentices in Scotland to display some of the region’s finest whisky.

This week, The Spirits Business headed to the London Wall Bar and Kitchen to host the biggest round in its Spirits Masters blind-tasting series, gin.

More than 300 gins were sampled by panels of expert judges, who awarded Silver, Gold and Masters medals to the best expressions in each category.

Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal recruited country music singers Russell Dickerson and Chase Rice, along with reality TV star Colton Underwood, to assemble care packages to be distributed to serving military personnel.

As part of the Crown Royal Purple Bag Project, Dickerson, Rice and Underwood came together with Tennessee Titans lineman Ben Jones (pictured) as part of the brand’s pledge to deliver one million care packages by 2020 to those in need.

Botanically brewed mixer brand Fentimans has launched a tour of the UK in a brightly-coloured Land Rover to celebrate its Rose Lemonade.

Fentimans will travel the length of the UK in a pink Land Rover Defender, stopping off at a host of the country’s biggest summer events along the way.

The brand will also be giving away rose-tinted sunglasses to ensure a sunny outlook on the summer – whatever the weather.

A musical, cocktail-filled journey across America takes place in London this evening (7 June).

America: North to South is taking over Fanny’s Bar in Stoke Newington for an evening of live music from George St Clair and The Functionalists, as well as a menu of fresh and exciting cocktails.

American vodka brand Three Olives is on the hunt for the home of rosé in the US.

In honour of its rosé vodka, Three Olives is hoping to find the next Rosévelt, US, following its attempts to rebrand Roosevelt Island in New York as Rosévelt.

Rosé fans can head to RoseveltIsland.com to vote for the place they think should be turned pink in honour of the brand’s rosé vodka before 19 July.
