Singapore drinks academy expands offering

Spirits educator Academy of Drinks has unveiled details of its second programme in Singapore: a whisk(e)y-focused training session, called Whiskey Wander.

Singapore-based Academy of Drinks has expanded its educational offering

The Academy of Drinks, which launched earlier this year, currently offers the juniper-focused Gin Journey and will now allow imbibers in Singapore to learn about the history of whisk(e)y through its Whiskey Wander programme.

The Whiskey Wander sessions will be led by an industry expert and will offer guests an introduction to the category, and an in-depth exploration of specific regions and styles. Through the programme there may also be the opportunity to meet brand ambassadors, master distillers and other brand representatives.

The educational experience will transport guests to a number of Singapore’s best known whisky drinking spots, including whisky bar Single Cask, MO Bar at the Mandarin Oriental, and La Maison du Whisky – where participants will sample neat whiskies and classic whisky-based cocktails.

Brands confirmed to be appearing across the programme include American whiskey maker Michter’s, Islay-based Scotch whisky distiller Bruichladdich, Taiwanese whisky maker Kavalan and Teeling Irish whiskey.

The Whiskey Wander experience will take place every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm-9:30pm, with each experience showcasing three venues, a range of different brands and snacks along the way.

Priced at S$128 (US$93), Whiskey Wander will launch on Wednesday 12 June.
