House of Suntory names first UK brand ambassador

Edrington-Beam Suntory UK has appointed James Bowker as the first UK brand ambassador for House of Suntory.

Bowker will be tasked with growing awareness of House of Suntory’s spirits brands, namely Roku Japanese gin, Toki Japanese whisky and Haku Japanese vodka.

The newly appointed ambassador brings more than 10 years’ experience as a bartender to the role having worked in venues such as Jekyll and Hyde in Birmingham, UK.

He has also worked as head bartender at The Edgbaston Hotel in Birmingham where he curated a selection of more than 60 Japanese whiskies for the bar.

Furthermore, Bowker worked as an apprentice at Bar High Five in Tokyo, Japan.

Nick Temperley, general manager, London, Edrington-Beam Suntory, said: “With his broad knowledge of Japanese whisky and spirits category, his growing passion for the House of Suntory and strong recognition within the UK trade, James has all of the qualities, skills and experience necessary to further drive brand advocacy and inspire customer loyalty amongst the UK industry.

“It is a truly exciting time for the House of Suntory with [the] Japanese whisky category growing 35% and UK consumers increasingly tuned into Japanese culture. With new initiatives and investment to support the on-trade, we will further drive the popularity that the House of Suntory has already enjoyed over recent years.”
