Rhett Rosen hopes to ‘reenergise’ Trader Vic’s as CEO

Polynesian bar operator Trader Vic’s has named Rhett Rosen CEO as it looks to “reenergise and reintroduce America” to its portfolio of tiki-inspired venues.

Trader Vic’s is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year

In his new role, Rosen will be responsible for strategic development, innovation and leadership initiatives across the company’s growing portfolio of venues.

“As one of the most experiential restaurant groups, I am excited to build on the legacy represented by Trader Vic’s brands,” said Rosen.

“We have continued to drive significant international growth and when you consider the 85-year empire of Trader Vic’s, the Mai-Tai and Señor Pico, this is just the beginning.”

Prior to accepting the role of CEO, Rosen acted as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Trader Vic’s. He also held positions with Veev Spirits, including business development manager and director of sales operations.

Charles C McGettigan, chairman of Trader Vic’s Worldwide, said: “We are excited that Rhett has agreed to lead Trader Vic’s international portfolio, and are confident that his industry knowledge, strong leadership skills and extensive hospitality experience will usher in a new chapter for the brand.

“Rhett’s deep understanding of two strategically important areas – brand identity and global market potential – makes him an ideal choice to drive innovation for the iconic 85-year-old brand.”

The bar operator, which celebrates its 85th anniversary this year, manages 19 venues in 12 countries including the UK, the US, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
