Patrón partners with leading bars to mark World Earth Day

To commemorate World Earth Day (22 April), Tequila brand Patrón has partnered with cocktail bars around the world to highlight the importance of sustainability in the on-trade.

The Adam’s Apple will be served at Eve Bar in London

The Bacardi-owned brand has joined forces with venues including Stairs Bar in Berlin, Ends and Means in Melbourne and Trunk Hotel in Tokyo.

In London, imbibers will be able to visit Eve Bar to sample the Adam’s Apple, made with apple-infused Patron Añejo Tequila, cherry bark-infused aperitif wine, caraway and apple oleo saccharum. Meanwhile, Cub will be serving up the Terraria, made with Patrón Añejo Tequila, Islay barley pu’er, celery citrus, mixed acid and soda.

Cub founder Ryan Chetiyawardana said: “In a nod to World Earth Day, we’re uniting Patrón Añejo with some mad UK produce. This drink highlights the diversity of the soil and how that can massively impact flavour.

“Cub and Patrón both recognise that the right choices can make a huge difference. To put it simply, we can talk about recycling waste, but it’s equally as important to be shoring up local businesses and providing all the love for the families around you.”

As part of the initiative, Patrón will host its Cocktails with a Conscience event at London members’ club The Conduit on 24 April. The event will feature a cocktail masterclass followed by a three-course menu paired with Patrón cocktails made using otherwise discarded ingredients.

Patrón Tequila has also created the Down to Earth cocktail, which was designed especially for Earth Day and showcases the ease with which a sustainable cocktail can be made at home.

“We are so proud to be bringing our sustainability credentials to the forefront of the conversation around environmental impact, this Earth Day and moving forward,” said Francisco Alcaraz, master distiller at Patrón Spirits International.

“A consideration for the environmental impact that our Tequila production can bring has always been a serious and pivotal factor in the way that we have done business since our inception.

“We have collaborated with some outstanding sustainable bars and restaurants to create both educational and inspirational evenings, that truly showcase the message that sustainability is and always has been at the heart of what we do.”
