Fans’ selfies decorate Big Peat Fèis Ìle 2019 bottle

Independent Scotch whisky bottler Douglas Laing has unveiled the limited edition Big Peat bottling for this year’s Fèis Ìle festival on Islay, adorned with more than 400 fans’ faces.

Only 3,300 bottles of Big Peat Fèis Ìle will be released globally

The design is a result of the brand’s request for Big Peat’s ‘pals’ to submit their selfies through an online competition.

The liquid comprises a batch of “cult” Islay whiskies, combining single malts from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and closed distillery Port Ellen, to name just a few.

Big Peat’s Pals Fèis Ìle 2019 limited edition whisky is non-chill-filtered and bottled without caramel colouring at 48% abv. Only 3,300 bottles will be available to purchase globally at RRP £48.99 (US$64).

The brand is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, with plans for an online birthday party-themed tasting.

Cara Laing, director of whisky and third generation in the family-owned business, said: “By marrying together a fine selection of our preferred single malts, only from Islay, we truly believe we have created the ultimate taste of Islay in Big Peat.

“His latest limited edition, the Fèis Ìle 2019 release, pays homage to his friends the world over, over 400 of whom feature proudly on the gift tube.

“This year, we celebrate 10 years since my father dreamt up Big Peat and our extensive plans will ensure our big Islay pal celebrates in style all over the world.”
