Tamdhu launches 15-year-old whisky globally
Speyside Scotch whisky distillery Tamdhu has revealed its latest limited edition annual release – a 15-year-old single malt.
Tamdhu 15 Year Old is available globally in domestic and travel retail markets
Tamdhu 15 Year Old has been matured in American and European oak oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.
Bottled at 46% abv without chill filtration or added caramel colouring, the whisky is available globally in domestic and travel retail markets at an RRP of £84.99 (US$112) per bottle.
Tasting notes for the whisky include aromas of apple pastry, spiced currants, orange zest, pineapple and fennel. The palate is described as tasting like apricots, raspberries, lemon tart and almonds, leading to malt biscuit, cream Sherry and vanilla on the finish.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu distillery manager, said: “All our whisky at Tamdhu is exclusively matured in the finest oloroso Sherry-seasoned oak casks.
“When you taste a dram of Tamdhu 15 Year Old, you can really taste the time and care that has gone into creating this incredible whisky.”
Ian Macleod Distillers, which owns Tamdhu, teamed up with Dufry to launch its first travel retail-exclusive whiskies in November last year.
In October 2018, the brand launched a campaign to celebrate its ties to Sherry.
It also replaced its 10-year-old Tamdhu single malt Scotch whisky with a new 12-year-old Sherry cask-matured expression.
