Glenlivet unveils 50yo collection at Masters of Wine and Spirits
Pernod Ricard-owned The Glenlivet showcased a trio of 50-year-old whiskies at the DFS Master of Wines and Spirits event in Singapore last weekend – including the most recent Winchester Collection Vintage 1967.
Bethan Gray designed the packaging for The Winchester Collection 1967 Vintage
At the eighth annual Masters of Wines and Spirits event, The Glenlivet showcased its Winchester Collection Vintage 1964, Winchester Collection Vintage 1966 and Winchester Collection Vintage 1967.
Just 100 bottles of the 1964 and 1966 variants, and 155 bottles of the 1967 vintage, have been released worldwide.
Laura Lung, single malts portfolio marketing manager for Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, said: “We are incredibly excited about all three whiskies on offer, with this prestigious trio laying claim to 50 years of unrivalled knowledge, unwavering care and unfaltering craft.
“DFS Group is one of the most luxurious travel retailers in the world, and with the Masters of Wine and Spirits being one of the most prestigious events of its kind, we couldn’t think of a more fitting occasion to launch The Glenlivet Winchester Collection.”
The 1964 Vintage is said to have “a wonderfully rich aroma of fruity pear and peach nectar”, while the 1966 bottling has “an abundance of soft fruits, sweet treacle and juicy orange, intermingled with cinnamon and liquorice”.
The 1967 Vintage comes in packaging created in collaboration with designer Bethan Gray and is described as “incredibly smooth and sweet with fondant orange and milk chocolate flavours in abundance, all with an amazing velvety texture”.
The collection has been named in honour of The Glenivet master distiller Alan Winchester and will be available to buy for SG$101,250 (US$75,000).
